For the Foodies
South American: Casa Colombia
Ice cream: Amy’s! Greg and I went here on our first date and it definitely sealed the deal. I can’t begin to tell you how great it is.
For the Coffee Drinkers
I can rattle off at least twenty coffee shops (Austin has like…100) but I’ll start you off with these jewels: Dominican Joe’s, Clementine’s (great paninis), Genuine Joe’s Coffee, Progress (great steel-cut oatmeal), and Mozart’s (go for the view if nothing else).
For the Athletes (or Athletes-In-Training)
Go out walking, running, biking or kayaking at Lady Bird Lake, formerly known as Town Lake
Rent a bike and hit the trails (see above): The Bicycle Shop
If it’s warm (it’s Texas after all) go swimming. The water at the springs stays at an average 68 degrees a year: Barton Springs. Better yet, go for a run and then hit the springs.
For the Movie Buffs
Enjoy a movie while being served a meal and a beer: Alamo Drafthouse. Very popular Austin past time.
For the Shoppers
Visit the other famous zip code, 78704, otherwise known as SoCo, and hit a bunch of the local shops: South Congress Avenue
